CHILD RIGHTS WORKING GROUP & TRAINING

October 21, 2026
Working Group: 9:00–10:30 AM
Optional Young Worker Training: 11:00 AM–12:00 PM
Lunch Provided at Training

Please join us for a Child Rights Working Group focused on strengthening how our community and employers support, protect, and create meaningful opportunities for young people in the workplace.

The Working Group will bring together employers and community partners to discuss current efforts, identify needs and challenges, share best practices, and explore ways we can work collaboratively to ensure young workers have safe, supportive, and positive workplace experiences.

Optional Training | 11:00 AM–12:00 PM

Following the Working Group, attendees are invited to participate in a one-hour Young Worker Training designed to give employers, supervisors, and community partners practical tools and confidence to successfully support young employees.

During the training, participants will learn how to:

  • Understand and manage young workers with confidence by creating a supportive environment where they can succeed.

  • Establish effective grievance and reporting channels so young workers know where to turn for help, advice, or to safely raise concerns.

  • Create buddy and mentoring systems that help young employees integrate into the workplace, build confidence, and feel supported from day one.

  • Strengthen communication and feedback practices to provide constructive guidance and address challenges early.

  • Implement fair performance evaluations with clear expectations, recognition, and opportunities for growth.

  • Access practical resources and expert support to help businesses successfully employ and develop young people.

Lunch will be provided.

We encourage employers, HR professionals, supervisors, educators, workforce partners, and community organizations that work with or employ young people to attend.

Help us build workplaces where young people are safe, supported, valued, and prepared for success.
